Atlanta Trap legend, once lost in the sauce, rises from syrupy ashes towards new beginning

Gucci Mane aka Radric Davis, aka La Flare, aka Godfather of Trap, aka Guwop, is a true inspiration. He was arrested on Sept. 13, 2013 and released May 26th, 2016. Even in his absence, he was regarded as a respected figure in the Southern Hip-Hop scene. His influential presence was still with us as the music releases and collaborations continued to funnel out.

Gucci Mane caused quite a stir upon his return to freedom as fans noticed some serious changes. His weight loss and new outlook on life were at the forefront of most publications' commentary. It was clear that Guwop remained busy while he was away and "turned over a new leaf."

Wellness is a must, to be at our best. Gucci Mane's dramatic change and overhaul is a testament to personal accountability, self-care, and what we can achieve when we choose to know better and do better.

What stuck out to me about La Flare, most recently, is his ability to motivate and inspire. His transformation story is one thing, but his continuation and online presence over the past year or so is remarkable. There are many things we can learn from him via his Twitter and Instagram profiles. If he ever decides to put down music, he could easily re-brand as a motivational guru or lifestyle connoisseur.

Enjoy a playlist of essential songs from Gucci Mane's extremely deep catalog while you read along.

Gucci is a true "comeback kid." He reminds us that even if our past was dark, we can choose to improve ourselves to ensure a brighter future. Continue to do the work to become the best, most valuable you.

Blow past the non-believers.

It's fair to say that Gucci wasn't at his best, in the past. With an unhealthy lifestyle and being in and out of jail, it's clear that change was needed. This seemed like a tall order, and indeed, it was.

Many people will doubt us when we go after what we want in life. Some will try to discourage us, for many reasons. In the midst of that, we have to believe in ourselves and persevere.

I'm sure that many people didn't think he could do it. Many people probably left him and he probably had to let go of people in order to improve himself. Guess what. He achieved!

Go hard or go home.

Just because we are doing well or feel like we 're in a good spot, doesn't mean that we should let up. It might sound strange, but we have to push through the "good times" in order to reach better.

We don't know what the future holds. We don't know what waste men might be plotting on us or if hard times are around the corner. Don't slow up your glow up on account of a shiny day. Go harder to ensure that you maintain and improve in the days ahead.

Look Good. Feel Good.

On his mama, on his hood, Gucci looks fly. Gucci looks good! You do too.

Practice self-affirmations. Recognize and assert the value of yourself. Live the lifestyle that supports your long term vision of success and prosperity. Let's be careful with out words and choose to speak only what reinforces positivity and progress.

No matter what you think about yourself, you are right. Let's choose to believe in the potential we all have, but also actively work towards its manifestation in real life.

Feel the pride inside.

Sometimes, we get caught up in all the work that we're doing to the point that we forget to appreciate it. Take a moment to look at where you were a year ago and realize that you've made progress. You have improved and you will continue to do so.

Live life. Don't waste it.

NEWS FLASH: Our days are numbered. Let's live those days we're given to the fullest. While we are here, we ought to impact others positively, while we seek personal satisfaction. The goal is to become a little bit better each day and leave this world better than how we found it.
